Sooner than later, the Haiti earthquake disaster will be a distant memory, a brief thought that crosses our minds only when we hear a song released early January. We have the luxury of controlling our intake of Disaster Relief news and avoiding pictures of graphic scenes. We have the opportunity to give, and we have the right not to.
The people of Haiti, however, have no such luxury. Their main concern isn't about a distant impoverished country's need, or accidentally glancing upon a newspaper cover that evokes an upset stomach. No, their main concern? Water. Food. Safety.
Since last Tuesday, I have been guilty of switching my empathy on and off. It's easier to ignore the need and chalk it up as 'Hype'; complain about those who are using it for personal publicity.
I can do this only because I'm not there. I'm not a victim. I'm disgustingly blessed beyond measure to the point where I am satisfied to do so little for people that need so very much.
So I asked the Lord to break my heart for Haiti... and He did.

Regardless of what you believe, there is one undeniable truth in all of this: HAITI needs HELP.
I work for a Non-for-Profit Organization called "Power to Change" and GAiN (Global Aid Network) is our humanitarian division. We are currently on the ground in Haiti administering emergency aid to the people there - water, food, shelter and trauma counselling.

Help Haiti through Power to Change
As absolute devastation is evident and relief groups scramble to act, we are fortunate to have such a strong network of people on the ground responding to the needs. Now, it is urgent that we provide them with the necessary food, clean water and medical supplies to share God’s love with the people of Haiti in this very practical way.
In order to carry out this phase of the emergency relief, we are looking to raise $1 million dollars, at this stage money is one of the most important ways to contribute.
PASS THIS ON AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO BE A PART OF HELPING THE PEOPLE OF HAITI THROUGH POWER TO CHANGE.
