Like Red on a Rose

My wonderful husband surprised me (early even!) last Friday by sending a beautiful bouquet of roses to me at work. They stayed perfectly perky and fragrant all week - I was thankful that my husband fell prey to valentines day commercialism....

The Today Show

I had the opportunity to sing the anthemn on the Grouse Mountain Today show set for an Internation Minor Hockey Game that took place Yesterday. I was thrilled to meet some of my favourite journalists and spend the day up on the beautiful (and very rainy) Grouse Mountain. Due to the freezing rain storm, they cancelled their outdoor segments for the morning and post-poned the game for a couple of hours - leaving me unsure of when (and if) it will still be aired on City TV or TODAY. Regardless, I had an amazing time!

Here are some keepsake photos from my very cool today-show experience February 16, 2010:
The Beautiful (and very kind) Natalie Morales

Tom Brokaw

Seth Wescott - 2 time Olympic Gold Medal Snowboard Cross Champion - one of my favourite people to meet - very down-to-earth and sweet!

Kristi Yamaguchi and Paul Wylie (1992 Olympic Medallists)

The lovely and gracious Jenna Bush.

The one and only Matt Lauer (love that man!).
Me on Set!

Meredith Vieira with Jay and I.

Sun Peaks

We had a fabulous weekend away with Spencer and Michelle and Spencer's family in Sun Peaks, BC. They are some of my favourite people:) Here are some pictures from our trip!

Me and Mine

I have some pretty amazing siblings. I love them with all my heart.

Brothers and sisters are as close as hands and feet. ~Vietnamese Proverb

"Bless you, my darling, and remember you are always in the heart - oh tucked so close there is no chance of escape - of your sister."

There's no other love like the love for a brother. There's no other love like the love from a brother. ~Astrid Alauda

Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk. ~Susan Scarf Merrell

A sibling may be the keeper of one's identity, the only person with the keys to one's unfettered, more fundamental self. ~Marian Sandmaier

The mildest, drowsiest sister has been known to turn tiger if her sibling is in trouble. ~Clara Ortega

After a girl is grown, her little brothers - now her protectors - seem like big brothers. ~Astrid Alauda

To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. ~Clara Ortega

Sibling relationships - and 80 percent of Americans have at least one - outlast marriages, survive the death of parents, resurface after quarrels that would sink any friendship. They flourish in a thousand incarnations of closeness and distance, warmth, loyalty and distrust. ~Erica E. Goode, "The Secret World of Siblings," U.S. News & World Report, 10 January 1994

My Doppleganger..s

dop·pel·gäng·er or dop·pel·gang·er (dpl-gngr, -gng-)
n. A ghostly double of a living person, especially one that haunts its fleshly counterpart.

I have often been told I look like Reese Witherspoon. This, of course, has never been something I have complained about...for obvious reasons. I would love to think that in some way I do resemble one of my favourite actresses.

Then there's Donny: My True Doppleganger. The man who, if it wasn't for my resemblance to my own father, I would attempt to contact for a DNA test. Donny will always hold a special place in my heart, not only because of our uncanny similiarities, but because he is a 'little bit rock and roll'.
